Since 1988 the Lytham Proms Orchestra have raised money for local and national charities by giving public performances. These are free admittance but a donation to the charity is appreciated. Led by conductor Martin Gunson, the musicians have performed to help the local RNLI fund their role to save lives at sea on numerous occasions over the years.

On Sunday 21st September 2025 the Orchestra “took over” the Lytham St Annes Station’s All-weather Lifeboat House to perform an afternoon of music to an enthusiastic audience. The Lifeboat Barbara Anne was drawn up outside the boathouse in readiness in case a call out to rescue people in danger came in but she also provided a good backdrop view for those attending the concert.

Councillor Cheryl Little, Deputy Mayor of Fylde Council, attended the afternoon of music to receive a cheque for the Station along with Chair of the Station Fund Raising Branch Chris Wrigley and to thank Martin and the Orchestra yet again

Alison Young, Lytham St Annes RNLI Fund Raising Branch Secretary, said “Thank you to the Orchestra and Martin for their continued support of the Sea Charity and its volunteers”.
