Happisburgh RNLI look back at their Heritage
Happisburgh Lifeboat Station has just completed a very busy week. The whole station has been involved with the National Heritage Open Days (HODS) a festival organised by the National Trust.
The station hosted seven events across the 9 day festival, resulting in extra fundraising opportunities and heightened community engagement and awareness. All areas of the station got involved in such diverse activities as live Lifeboat Operations, heritage talks and in-depth station tours.
The highlight of the festival was a fascinating evening with crew and audience engaging in a live chat show hosted by ITV Anglia’s David Whiteley. Richard talked to three long serving crew members, Cedric Cox (now President), Terry Beane (now Launch Authority) and Tim Grimmer (now Launch Authority). He also spoke to three current operational sea going and shore crew volunteers, Alix Symonds - Head Launcher, Rachael Kirkham - Lifeboat Operations Manager and Ellis Speirs Crew member.
Simon Tibble, the station’s Visits Officer said, “It is a great privilege to be associated with the people at RNLI Happisburgh. The HODS events this year were really fantastic. Everyone involved from the crew to all our guests had a great time. There were inspirational conversations and stories across the board, and our whole team, along with all the people who came to our events, are to be congratulated on their contributions to the success of the whole project.”
Watch out on local media and Facebook for our next event in the lead up to Christmas.
