Wednesday 24 September, the pagers sounded at 17:22. Teignmouth volunteer crew launched at the request of Solent Coastguard to a multi-agency incident off Hope’s Nose.

After a swift launch of Teignmouth Lifeboat Claude and Kath, the volunteer crew arrived on scene where water safety cover was provided for the onshore Coastguard team who were preparing a casualty for a helicopter transfer. The casualty was subsequently airlifted from the location to hospital, at which point the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

A special mention to Will Annal, as this was his very first shout as a trainee volunteer crew member.
Will joined the station at the start of the summer and has been working hard through his training with the guidance and support of the crew.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Andy Lilburn said ‘every launch is the result of great teamwork between our crew and partner agencies, and tonight was no exception. It was also a proud moment to see one of our trainee crew members respond to their very first shout, an important milestone in their training with the RNLI.’
Will Annal further added that ‘It was an incredible experience to be part of a real shout for the first time, and to witness the teamwork as part of a multi agency operation. The support from the crew was brilliant, and I’m proud to be part of the team’.
