The Lizard RNLI Assist Stranded Fishing Vessel

Lifeboats News Release

Following a launch request received from Falmouth Coastguard and under the command of Coxswain Phil Woodcock, RNLB Rose launched on service at 4.33pm.

Our tasking was to go to the assistance of 7.5mtr angling vessel with three persons on board suffering from complete engine failure and in an approximate position of 11m nautical miles southeast of the lifeboat station.

Upon arrival on scene shortly after 5pm a thorough assessment of the situation was carried out and with suspected contamination of fuel rendering the vessel motionless, the decision was taken to tow the vessel and it’s occupants into their home port of Falmouth. A towline was attached, and after a 19 nautical mile tow, the lifeboat safely bought the vessel in to Falmouth and placed her alongside the Premier Marina.

After a refreshment break for our crew, RNLB Rose made for home and had returned to her station at Kilcobben Cove shortly after 10pm where she was rehoused and made ready for service again when required.
