Ford Ranger - Official Vehicle of the RNLI Lifeguards

For six years, the RNLI and Ford have been working together to help save more lives at sea. Since 2020, Ford UK have supplied the majority of our vehicle fleet, with the Ford Ranger becoming the RNLI’s go-to beach vehicle.

Now in 2025, we’re proud to receive the roll out of their new and updated Ford Rangers across RNLI Lifeguarded beaches, cementing its position as the official vehicle of the RNLI Lifeguards.

Updated vehicles will be deployed across selected UK beaches as it is now an essential part of the RNLI’s day-to-day patrols. Its impressive off-road agility, exceptional towing power and outstanding load capacity makes it the four-wheel drive that helps save lives.

RNLI lifeguards often need to think at a split second’s notice. The deployment of the new award-winning Ford Ranger across UK beaches provides our lifesavers with even greater capability, durability and reliability in challenging beach conditions.

Ford will continue to help us share our vital lifeguard water safety messages, building on their past support, which has seen marketing campaigns such as Tide Tracks, social media content series and the use of bus stop advertising to reach people with information which could save their lives.

The RNLI’s advice if you’re heading to the coast is to:

  • Choose a lifeguarded beach where possible.
  • Swim between the red and yellow flags.
  • If you get into trouble in the water, Float to Live.
  • If you see someone in trouble, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
