Feeling musical? Put on a special show and help save lives with RNLI Rock the Boat. Discover everything you need to host a great gig, including handy resources and insider tips.

Why Rock the Boat?

The RNLI and the sea have always enjoyed deep musical connections and we know volunteers like you love supporting lifesavers with exciting events. You don’t need to be a virtuoso (or to like rock music) to play your part – just bags of enthusiasm and some talented friends. And it’s as easy as 1-2-3 to organise a Rock the Boat concert with our guide and resources:

1. Gather your band

Jazz, pop, folk, reggae … whatever your jam, get your crew together, make a set list and get them practising.

2. Find your venue

Approach a local pub, club, hall or festival. By supporting Rock the Boat they will be lifesavers too!

3. Sell your tickets

Every Rock the Boat star needs an adoring audience: family, friends and local lifeboat fans.

The size and style of the event is up to you. If noisy bands, PA systems and lighting rigs are not your thing, how about an unplugged ceilidh or choir? Or something more intimate, like an acoustic duo with special guests? Whatever you decide, volunteer-led events like this are crucial to keeping the RNLI afloat – and we’ll support you every step of the way.

Read on for inspiration, top tips and all the tools you need to plan, promote and play the greatest lifesaving gig ever!
