The concert, entitled ‘Choirs in Harmony’, was well attended by choir supporters and Lyme Regis residents including the Mayor and Mayoress of Lyme Regis Councillor Philip Evans MBE and Mrs Jackie Evans. Volunteers from the Lyme Regis and Charmouth lifeboat supporters' group were also on hand to run a fundraising raffle.

The concert audience enjoyed a varied selection of choral arrangements, some old, some new, which culminated in a moving rendition by the massed choirs of the classic maritime hymn ‘For those in peril on the sea’.

Chairman of Lyme Regis and Charmouth lifeboat supporters’ group Ken Lavery said: ‘We are very grateful to the choirs for putting on this concert in aid of the RNLI. It is very fitting that it was held here in the magnificent setting of the Marine Theatre, right next to the sea.’

Taunton Male Voice Choir’s concert manager Francis Taylor said: ‘It is a real pleasure to be able to perform here in Lyme Regis. We are very proud to be supporting the RNLI charity and the important work its volunteers do to save lives around the coast seven days a week, 365 days a year.’

Earlier in day the day Taunton Male Voice Choir visited Lyme Regis lifeboat station where volunteer crew members showed them their Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Spirit of Loch Fyne. Afterwards the choir gave an impromptu performance of sea shanties on the lifeboat slipway.
