Lifeboat volunteers from Beaumaris tasked to a yacht on the Menai Strait.
At 4.06 pm on Saturday 3 May 2025 the volunteer crew members of the Beaumaris lifeboat received a page from H.M. Coastguard relating to an incident in the area known as the Swllies on the Menai Strait.
The Beaumaris Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington with her volunteer crew launched and proceeded towards the advised area given for the 29-foot yacht that had a rope wrapped around her propeller and the anchor was not holding.
In addition to the Beaumaris Lifeboat volunteers, a Mobile Coastguard Rescue team from, Bangor also tasked to the mayday call.
Fortunately, a passing fishing vessel had also responded to the distress call and had been able to take the boat in tow and berth her by the pier at Menai Bridge.
Having ascertained that all was well with the three crew aboard the yacht The Beaumaris lifeboat returned to her station at Beaumaris at 4.40 pm to be refuelled and cleaned.
Once this had been completed by 5.15 pm the volunteer crew left the station.
