Wells Lifeboat Station

Lifeboat crews at Wells have been saving lives at sea since 1830 but the first RNLI lifeboat station was built in 1869. The current boathouse is located on a sand and shingle spit just over a mile north of the town.

For enquiries regarding Launch a Memory, please do not contact the station directly. Please contact our Launch a Memory Team on [email protected] or call our Supporter Experience Team on 0300 300 0061 (UK) or 01 511 9871 (Ireland).

We understand that you may wish to visit the station to view your loved one’s names on the lifeboat. Please note that the lifeboat and the station may not always be available for viewing for various reasons, for example operational needs.  Therefore, the station can sometimes be closed to visitors at short notice. Depending upon weather and volunteer availability, the main boat hall doors may be open to allow a view of the bow of the lifeboat. When these are open, we ask that you do not cross any barriers that are placed in this area and do not go into the main boat hall.
