
Wells RNLI inshore lifeboat respond to Medical emergency at Burnham Overy
Monday 16 June Wells RNLI inshore lifeboat was tasked by HM Coastguard at 6:20pm to assist a person experiencing hypoglycaemia on the foreshore at Burnham Overy.
D class lifeboat Peter Wilcox launched from Holkham Bay at 6:44pm following a low water launch, having left the boathouse at 6:32pm. The launch and recovery vehicle accompanied the inshore lifeboat toward the casualty’s last known location.
By 6:50pm, the inshore lifeboat arrived to the seaward side of the harbour entrance. It was confirmed that the casualty, a diabetic, had recovered sufficiently and had left the area without further assistance.
With no additional support required, all responding assets including the Wells RNLI inshore lifeboat , launch and recovery team, and Hunstanton RNLI’s hovercraft were stood down by 7:00pm.
Wells RNLI inshore lifeboat returned to Holkham Bay for recovery, coming ashore at 7:12pm, and was back at the boathouse, washed down, refuelled, and ready for service again by 8:15pm.
